Snowboard Tricks

Snowboard Tricks

List of Basic Snowboard Tricks

Rodeo 540

A Backflip and backside 180 combined.  The roady is a styley trick.  The backflip is performed first, then the back 180 is thrown in at the last second.  This trick has now evolved into many add on variations, including the double rodeo 1080.

720° Rotation

720 is a steezy trick to do on a smooth kicker.
You must make setup turns and wind up your body to either spin frontside or backside.  The key is to throw it looking with your head directions and conduct your turn with your shoulders.  Keep that head looking under the shoulder and the body, with the board will follow.  You will spin around twice, and you have the option to cork the spin by either dropping your back or front shoulder.

Mc Twist

This is a frontflip combined with a 180 in the pipe, this trick has also evolved into many variations now being used by today's pro snowboarders.
Achieved by Terje Haakonsen, a Norwegian Viking.

StaleFish

This trick is overplayed except when poked out in backside or frontside 360's!!!!

Melon Grab

If your using this grab you better not be throwing anything less than cork 7's!!! Be a Viking..

Method Grab

This trick is a classic, so don't screw it up by doing it wrong, or you may have to knuckle it up..  You gotta grap between the bindings and tweak the board out in front of you!!  Not just behind you!! This tweak seperates gapers from pros.  So make sure you work on the style of this trick. Throw it like an old schooler!!

Buttering

Basically butters are nose press or tail press, You do them on boxes or hand rails, also called blunt slide.  You can 180 on or off, these are very difficult tricks on hand rails

Flying Squirrel

Ready for a long trip into the air, floating like a squirrel?
Then this trick is for you but watch out, you need to get high to get high!  haha this trick is for homo's instead try a straight leg three... SUPER STEEZE.. Do a frontside 360 but try to keep your legs straight the whole way through, and you may look just like Danny Kass.

Snowboarding: Learn How to do Spins Off Jumps/Kickers

Snowboarding: Learn How to do Spins Off Jumps/Kickers

There is one method that works great when doing spins off snowboard jumps and here I will inform you of this valuable information.  The first step is setting up the spin.  If your going to spin frontside off you heels you need to carve on your toes towards the toeside of the jump.  Then when you are halfway up the transition of the jump, switch to putting pressure on your heelside.  As you hit the lip of the jump you pop.  This transfer of energy from your toe to your heels will give you extra pop and a faster spin.

Next, as you hit the lip when you pop you will wind up with your body and look with your head in the direction that you want to spin.  Your body and your board will follow your head and shoulders!!  Now you will look with your hear under your armpit, this will keep you from going corked and losing your balance in the air.  This is a mistake that many beginners make!! Just knowing to look at your arm pit will put you miles ahead of the competition.  Now  as you pop, and throw with your arms/shoulders, and look with your head, you will use your back arm to reach down and grab your board.  This will keep you stable in the air, and makes the spin much easier to land.  Tip: It is much easier to bend your knees and try to bring them as high as you can, then try to just grab them with your hand.  This will help you make grabs when you first start, something that not alot of beginners can do.

Finally, you spin the rotations that you wish to make, then look at the landing with your head.  Switch from looking over your shoulder to looking slightly to the other direction that the landing is in, this will help you stop the spin and land well.  Now you just STOMP IT, land, suck up your knees, ride away.
